Oracle RAC 10g DBA Location: Sterling VA Duration: 3-6 Months Job Description: The Database Administrator will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation, including maintenance and administration, of the oracle database systems and provide 24x7 production support. Experience or sound knowledge on Disaster Recovery or High Availability (data guard, RAC, advanced replication) is a must. Responsibilities 1. Install, maintain oracle software and setup databases for all environments (dev,test,prod etc). 2. Administration, monitoring, performance tuning and maintenance of databases on 24x7 basis. 3. Develop, implement and execute database backup methodologies. 4. Resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed 5. Work with development/QA groups to design operationally sound databases. 6. Work with UNIX System Administrators to define host setup characteristics. 7. Participate in 24x7 on call rotation. 8. Ensure database performance and reliability. 9. Setup, monitor, maintain and troubleshoot physical standby databases to ensure high availability. 10. Develop scripts for maintenance and monitoring of oracle databases using shell programming (preferably ksh) MUST HAVE * Experienced more than 7 years using Oracle RDBMSs in roles such as DBA, developer, Analyst etc.,. * Main area of strength is Oracle RDBMS from version 9i through 10g. * Minimum of 5 years of experience as Oracle Database Administrator. * Past working experience in common programming languages. * Experience with Logical and Physical Data modeling & Design.
