Apart from being inelegant, it's just plain wrong. People is plural.
Megaperson makes more sense, but it's also inelegant.
In any case, neither person nor people is a unit of measure.
I have similar problems with respect to applying SI rules to currency,
although my objection isn't as strenuous.
