We have a piano maker in Australia, Stuart and Sons', who make all of their
pianos using only metric measures; for example the 2.9 metre grand piano has
its string diameters specified in micrometres.

I don't know about other instrument makers, but I was lucky enough to work
with Wayne Stuart as he developed his ideas for a new Australian piano.

Cheers,
