SUBJECT: 2002 TRAFFIC SIGNAL DESIGN AND SIGNAL MODIFICATION PROJECT

Task 2.0 - Preparation of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates DKS will
prepare one set of plans, specifications and estimates for the construction
of the three new signals and for the signal modification project. The plans
set may be separated into two sets given the optional task below. The County
will give authorization to separate or combine the two plans sets before the
start of Task 2.0. The design will employ the signal type and control
equipment as approved by the County of Santa Cruz in the concept design
stage. The plans will be prepared in Metric units unless otherwise directed
by the County.

1-4.1 General. The International System of Units, also referred to as SI or
the metric system, is the principal measurement system in these
Specifications and shall be used for construction, unless otherwise stated
in the Contract Documents. U. S. Standard Measure, also called U. S.
Customary System, are included in parenthesis. SI units and U. S. Standard
Measure in parenthesis may or may not be exactly equivalent. If U. S.
Standard Measures are specified for use in the Contract Documents, then all
values used for construction shall be U. S. Standard Measures shown in
parentheses. However, certain material Specifications and test requirements
contained herein use SI units specifically and conversions to U. S. Measures
have not been included in these circumstances. When U. S. Standard Measures
are not included in parentheses, the SI units shall control. Reference is
also made to ASTM E 380 for definitions of various units of the SI system
and a more extensive set of conversion factors.

2. Final Maps shall be submitted, in metric, to the City for review and
approval. Maps shall be prepared, wet signed and sealed by a civil engineer
or land surveyor, registered in the State of California and licensed to
prepare final maps.
