I wonder if the anti-metric letter came from a member of one of those anti-metric groups like the BWMA.  The average reader wouldn't bother to write.  Those pro and opposed to metric are the most likely to write.  Can you tell us what you and the opposer said?

Subject: [USMA:29673] National Geographic, Mars

I was reading the May issue of Natl Geog yesterday and glanced at the letters to the editor section regarding the Mars article, which came out a couple of months ago.  If you read the article, you will recall that the article was all metric. There was a letter from a man complaining of the use of metric measurements, and following that one from me congratulating them on the same.  I had sent them an e mail and had totally forgotten about it.  Following all that was an editorial note that the NG only uses metric in scientific articles now because so many readers complained about their attempted switch years ago, blah, blah, blah.

It would be nice to see more input to the mag on this issue, perhaps based on the back-to-back two letters in the current issue.
