Dear All,

I have noticed it before, but I have never questioned the BIPM logo.

See: the background of page 1, and in more detail of page 3 of:
http://www.bipm.fr/utils/common/pdf/si_brochure_8.pdf

This logo has three figures: one holding a metre stick; another with a
caduceus of Hermes representing doctors and medicine; and a third with a
spinning stick wearing elaborate textiles. Below these is a world globe to
indicate the international nature of BIPM and an industrial wheel similar to
the one used by Rotary International Clubs to show that the metric system is
relevant to industry.

Above all of the above are the letters BIPM and below the figures are the
words:

METRO XPO

Can anyone help me with a translation of METRO XPO?

Cheers and thanks,
