Apparently Americans don't know their ounces and pounds as much as some claim. Otherwise why do they have to have two forms of the same amount? You have ounces only, then you have to explain how many pounds that is with how many ounces left over. I would think that would be unnecessary as FFU lovers should know that.
In SI you only need to say it once and it is completely understood. Everyone knows that 1.25 kg is 1250 g. They don't have to shown that on every package.
