While I respect Victor's contribution to the USMA Listserve, I agree with Paul on the need for a planned, orderly, coordinated program of conversion to SI. The program should prioritize what should be converted first, based on what is easiest as well as what is needed immediately. Other categories would fall roughly in the middle of this changeover while larger and more difficult economic sectors would be last. You have to approach the entire changeover in a comprehensive and detailed manner leaving nothing to chance. This is where a future USA Metric Board that has legislative authority to enforce the implementation of the SI, would come to the fore. All of its members must be 100% committed to the task of a gradual, coordinated changeover and have a wide experience with various sectors of the American economy.
