I was searching for a picture of the relationships between the metric base
units and derived units, and I found something on Google images. It was a piece
of paper taped to a post that said, "The metric system is stupid! Stop jamming
it down our throats!" But it doesn't end there. It turns out there is an entire
page on a website related to this.

Some excerpts:
--------------------------------
Have you ever watched a Toronto Blue Jays baseball game? Have you noticed the
 measurements on the home
run wall are done in metric? Tell me, what the heck is "95 m" or "143 m" in
distance? How stupid.

Have you ever noticed a metric system person telling how tall they are in
centimeters? Seriously, what in the
world is the difference between 148, 153 or 159 centimeters? What a joke! For
the record, I
weight 185 pounds and I'm 6 foot 1 inches. Don't give me any of your metric
system crap!

The metric system is geeky. Losers like the metric system. You scientists
might benefit from it with your research, but keep your pathetic system to
yourselves.
Why don't you just move to Sweden if you love the metric system so much?! :(
----------------------------------
The problem with all of these is just a matter of reference. 95 meters is 95
meters. 143 meters is 143 meters. 148, 153, and 159 centimeters are just that.
This person even says that they went looking for "metric sticks" (not meter
sticks) to destroy but couldn't find any. This person claims that the metric
system is dumb just because they don't know how far a meter is.

Geeks? Losers? I really feel sorry for this person. I don't think he knows how
much metric is actually used in America.

However I would actually like to thank this person. Every time we encounter a
setback or it seems like we're getting nowhere I'll just think of this website
and I'll remember why I started supporting the metric system in the first place.
