Student metric activist Mike Deck is trying to transition members from his pro-metric Facebook group to a newly renamed group (Facebook doesn't allow groups to be renamed, oddly). The old group was called "100,000 Americans for a Metric Revolution", and the new one will drop the number. With membership at 11k and decelerating, I guess he didn't want the number anymore.
You can join here; no need to drop out of the old group until it's closed (if that happens). http://www.facebook.com/groups.php?ref=sb#/group.php?gid=42790820838 For those who don't monitor this group, the advantage over our forum is that the Facebook group is discoverable by a broad, largely young audience (hence, 11k members, which I'm guess dwarfs USMA membership or those subscribed to this listserv). There are posts regularly from college students and others offering support for metrication. The downside is that enrollment is open and free, and that the site is assaulted by anti-metric folks with some regularity. Another disadvantage is that, judging from the membership numbers and activity level, many people join and never check back with the group. Posts don't end up in your inbox, as with this group.
