The language in RFC 2818 is narrower than this.  It allows '*' to match only 
the first label.

(Note that `*` will be rendered in text as "*" and HTML as a bare * in 
fixed-width font, which might not be visible.  Consider using explicit quotes: 
"*" instead.  I have an open ticket on xml2rfc about this point: 
https://trac.ietf.org/trac/xml2rfc/ticket/647 though that has spawned an 
interesting email chain.)
