I too have had great success w/ Netgear products. They are easy to install
and reliable, all with good support at http://netgear.baynetworks.com.

In my experience, Realtek cards are -- to put it simply -- not worth the
price even if they're free. I've had 2 fail on me, and they somehow
manage to get about 3 to 4 times the collision rate of other NIC's, and
their Windows drivers consistently suck (which I know doesn't matter
for Linux, but when a company can't even put together decent Windows
drivers you have to wonder about their hardware). My personal
recommendation is the Netgear FA310TX. It's 10/100, uses the tulip driver
(probably the most stable one for Linux), costs about $25, and I've
never had any Netgear product (I've owned hubs, switches, an ISDN
router, and NIC's) never so much as hiccup on me.
