Seriously, though, I don't know the answer to your question - sorry. But
if there was a moment of epiphany that convinced me Debian was the best
distro ever it was the moment when I typed apt-get install gnucash and
it just worked. I spent hours getting gnucash installed and working when
using redhat. Yes, this was before the rpm apt port which so many tout
as the end to redhat's package management inferiority. But based on your
experience, it would seem that it is not the end of redhat's package
management inferiority; not yet at least.
