Local folders are always used when your protocol is pop3. I've really only ever used imap, so I don't use local folders either. However I don't know how to turn off the local folders by either hiding them or removing them. > > so I guess the question becomes: How can I have my default account > really be my default account? Specifically I'd like the Summary page > to link to /my/ INBOX and /not/ the local folders INBOX. Okay. Go to the summary view. Then do tools->settings. Then you can check the folders from any of the views that you want in the summary. Uncheck the local ones. Works pretty good.
