I gotta put in a couple of plugs for members of this group who have created excellent colorschemes for Vim. Not only am I wanting to recognize them but also to inform other Vim users of these great colorschemes. Hans Fugal's desert colorscheme is an excellent choice. I have used it a TON when programming on my laptop. It just seems to do well with my laptop's display. I am biased to darker backgrounds and colors because all the white hurts my eyes after a while. Having said that, Michael Brailsford's midnight and midnight2 are also AWESOME colorschemes for all of my fellow vampires out there. I have used all of these quite extensively on my desktop and laptop machines. Give em a try.
