What dhcp client are you using? dhcpcd or pump? I use pump and my
/etc/network/interfaces piece looks like this:
iface eth0 inet dhcp
hostname falcon
Works for me on resnet. I'm not sure about dhcpcd but pump leaves lots
of information in syslog that might shed light if it is a dhcp problem.
