The fact that you've installed Gentoo means you are no doubt familiar at least with their install documentaion, and probably familiar with the other quality docs on their site. In addition, I would recommend http://forums.gentoo.org/ if your device seems weird. Also, what kind of burner is it? Is it IDE, SCSI, USB? You should probably search Gentoo docs for installing devices of one of those types.
