One thing that bothered me about this was that I had difficulty using
the mailboxes directly when they were in /var/spool/mail for some reason
(don't recall why), but I got around it by configuring courier to look
in $HOME/Maildir instead (and setting up users' .procmailrc in /etc/skel
appropriately).
