I thought this was funny. Here are a few snippets from a "how-to-be-a-protester" site:
Before hitting the streets: * Don't carry drugs with you. This includes cannabis. There's no need to make yourself an easy target for police charges. Clothing: * No earrings, piercings, necklaces, ties that can be grabbed or get caught on things. * Dress for the weather: It is likely to be hot, if you want to wear a singlet or go bare-chested be aware that you won't have much protection from either the sun or any chemicals such as tear gas or pepper spray. * Replacement pants/shirt sealed in bag, to replace chemically contaminated clothing (if necessary) Other bits that are useful: * A bandanna or other cloth soaked in apple cider vinegar will act as a decent substitute gas mask if the tear gas starts wafting. Keep it in a sealed zip-lock bag in an easy access pocket. White vinegar or lemon juice can also be used but are more likely to damage the skin on your nose and mouth. Household dust masks underneath a vinegar bandanna are even more effective at helping you breathe with gas in the air. More optional Supplies / Clothing info: * Head protection, bike helmet, hardhat etc for resisting batons. * Gas Mask, preferably with shatter resistant lens & replaceable non-asbestos filters. M17A1 clones are good. Beware of police stealing them. :-) ____________________ BYU Unix Users Group http://uug.byu.edu/ ___________________________________________________________________ List Info: http://uug.byu.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/uug-list
