Gentoo really is just a packaging system, so this makes sense, but I read on gentoo's site in their little newsletter that work has begun porting portage to cygwin, allowing you to have all the goodness of emerge on a windows system.
I know this seems like overkill, but if they could make it possible to build the gnome libraries for X11 under cygwin, then I could distribute evolution to my users using the rootless mode of the Cygwin XFree86 server. Anyway, what's next, debian for windows? :) Why not.
