I've done a lot of J2EE work on with all open source tools.
I use:
        -Tomcat for my servlet container
        -JBoss for my EJB container
        -Eclipse as an IDE
        -Ant to handle my builds

You'll probably want to use some J2EE some plug-ins. I use:

        -A tomcat plug-in:
        http://www.sysdeo.com/eclipse/tomcatPlugin.html

        -A JBoss plug-in:

http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=html&op=userdisplay&id=developers
/projects/jboss/jbosside.

-I also use the lomboz plug-in for its templates and jsp editing
features.
