Yeah, I think they call them "compact disks" or something like that ;-) On a serious note, I have a question: I'm trying this: X :1 -query hostname But it only gives me a default X screen with our friendly X-shaped cursor ... no xdm login screen. I'm actually trying it out on the BYU CS [pizza] servers ... I remember doing it before [pre-mission] at it worked fine. I even checked /etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess on the CS computers and it looks ok. I do get some "XDM: Too many retransmissions" error on my side ... is my connection just too slow or something? Also, is there a way to encrypt the connection, apart from loading a full X session here and then simply running each program via a ssh login? (I.e., I want my window manager, etc., to all run on the remote terminal--I just want my computer to be a dumb terminal.) Any suggestions? ~ ross ____________________ BYU Unix Users Group http://uug.byu.edu/ ___________________________________________________________________ List Info: http://uug.byu.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/uug-list
