I would be opposed to such a change, and likely would not participate 
in the list if such a change were to go through.  (I can hear the 
cheering now. :-)  I joined the UUG because it *wasn't* just another 
Linux user's group.  I'd be more active, too, if personal situations 
allowed (my wife is recovering from a serious condition and I choose
not to leave her for long periods of time).  As it is, I try to be 
somewhat active on the mailing list, sharing my opinion and experience 
as I can.
