Did you move to a different physical box? That's what I'd like
to do -- move several accounts to a different physical box
(without having to recreate them). Sorry if my first post
was unclear.

I recently kept my home directory and user account totally intact when
switching from Mandrake 9 to Redhat 9 (everything on NIS and NFS).
Gnome looked funny for a while, and my menus were totally messed up. I
think I finally just deleted everything .gnome in my home dir (and lost
my preferences) and that fixed the problems. Other than that it worked
pretty well, so give it a try.
