Not to endorse IBM in any way, but I do own a thinkpad with only a
trackpoint and I rather like the trackpoint.  I never accidently hit it
while typing, and it's right there next to my pointer finger so I don't
have to stretch at all to use the mouse.  It took a little getting used
to, but really it wasn't that hard.  I sometimes wich my desktop
keyboard had a built-in trackpoint.
