As with most netiquette, there is a good reason that cross-posting is frowned on. If you're on high traffic lists, like the kernel lists, cross-posting can quickly multiple an already difficult load to keep up with. Add in the difficulty of tracking issues in multiple threads and it really is inappropriate. That said, the Plug and UUG lists are pretty low traffic. I've cross-posted to them multiple times and feel only slightly bad about it.
