In my opinion, the best thing is to do 'man muttrc', read the whole
thing to get a feel for what's there, and then to add features one by
one as you get used to them.  It's impractical to try to use every
single one of them at once, but it helps to read the man page to get a
feel for them, and if you have vi open in another window you can add the
options you know you want as you see them.  The documentation is really
pretty good.  If you want a config file to start with, I can give you
mine.  Byron, Evan, and others also surely have great individualized
muttrcs.  If I remember correctly there is also a nice mutt web page.
