Fetching ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-current/Latest/foo.tbz ... for what seems like hours, is there another option to tell this to show me that it is doing something so i know if my network connection has stalled out or if the package is just really big and i am getting sub-modem speeds?
I don't have a FreeBSD box available anymore to look this up, but I
think there's an option you can set for pkg_add that tells it to use
wget instead of fetch. I *know* you can set this if you're doing "make
install" from the ports tree, and I'm pretty sure it's possible in the
pkg_add system.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
