A search on the error message was similarly unhelpful.

Anyone know of any wireless network troubleshooting tips, or some website that could help out, or ideas that I'm missing? I got me a new wireless card for the laptop, which runs Mandrake 9.2.
"lsmod" shows the correct driver was loaded.
"iwconfig" shows an entry for eth0 with the correct router ESSID name and (I think) all the other correct parameters, but "Link Quality:40" and "Signal level:0" even though the router is all of 5 ft away... "iwconfig eth0 essid any" comes up with the same info.
"ifconfig" shows eth0 as up and running, but with no IP address (DHCP network)
"ifdown eth0; ifup eth0" says "Determining IP information for eth0...", waits for a while, then says "done" along with a message about "Hangup /etc/init.d/tmdns reload"
"dhclient" makes several attempts at getting a lease, but eventually fails.
