In this case, the address was indeed hijacked. Because of the way SMTP
works, you can say the message comes from anybody and your typical mail
server will just accept that at face value.

It is possible to use Yahoo mail without using webmail. Either you can
pay for POP3 or forwarding (it's like $4 a month) or use something like
YoSucker[1].
