Okay, i have to stick in my two cents. I've used fwbuilder, shorewall,
firestarter, and several others. My impression of shorewall, it stopped
working correctly after several days. Same problem on multiple boxes. Maybe
a kernel 2.6 problem?? It has nice features and was easy to use though.
Firestarter, didn't really do half of was it was suppose to when I ran nessus
to check it.
The best firewall I have found with good stateful filtering, is called
gshield. Pretty easy to configure, and most all the features work very well.
It does my NATing, DMZ, port blocking, and port forwarding. If I could find
out why shorewall dies on me, then I'd probably use that.
