Try the FVS318 from Netgear. I'll call it Linux because it cost $150 with 8 IPSEC VPN tunnels, NAT, DHCP, and a passing test from Shields Up!(Gibson Research) on a default config. It could be some BSD variant, though...
It's cheaper than setting up a box that has a hard drive IMO, in terms of labor/MTBF. Then again you could always boot off a floppy or CD on an LRP-type distro w/o a hard drive, but I wouldn't recommend it if you can bill the cost of the FVS318 - the NetGear will take you under 15 minutes to install. Now that I've plugged NetGear, let me tell you that its NAT support is very basic on this model. I can't do things like set different external ports that map to the same internal port - but on separate IPs. Yech. Now that I think of it, you might like firestarter. -Lars -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Tony Despain Sent: Tuesday, April 06, 2004 7:59 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [uug] The best and easiest to use linux firewall?
