[uug] Web-hosting, domain names

My wife and I are making a "real" web-page for the first time 
(Angelfire, 50megs, web1000, and BYU web-space not included) and we're 
planning on registering a domain name, and getting hosting. We probably 
don't need more then 10 megs for the next year or so.

I've tried googling for domain name registration, but most of the pages 
seem somewhat unprofessional, and like they're trying to scam someone 
somehow (putting "no-hidden costs" on the page more than 3 times makes 
me wary). Price ranges for a .com or .net ranged from $10 to $25 - 
there's not a difference, is there?

For hosting, we don't need anything fancy. Password protection would be 
nice and cgi.

Can anyone recommend where to register names, and where to get hosting? 
Eventually I'll probably run a server ourselves, but for now, it'll be 
less of a hassle.
