There's a position opening in the next week or so (to start work on May 3rd) in the Physics and Astronomy Department for an Assistant CSR. 20-30 hrs/week Sp/Su, 20 hrs/week F/W. Longevity (2+ years) required. The position is for the Linux expert in the group. There's a fair amount of Linux expertise here already, but there is need for someone who can have that as their focus.
Some buzzwords you should know something about: Fedora Mandrake LDAP (OpenLDAP) NFS (possibly NIS) Apache (possibly even suEXEC, certainly vhosts) X11 (XFree86, X.org, whatever) TCP/IP Ethernet (I've had to troubleshoot some really strange problems here.) The position also requires a knowledge of or genuine willingness to learn and support Microsoft applications and servers (i.e. "you'll have to call back later and talk to the other guy about that" is not the preferred answer to a question about Outlook). Good customer service skills required. We also have a website that needs to be more maintainable some day, so web programming / database skills could give you an advantage. There are some other basic requirements like heavy lifting and occasional hardware troubleshooting. Check out the posting on SES <http://www.byu.edu/hr/se/> and follow application instructions there. ____________________ BYU Unix Users Group http://uug.byu.edu/ ___________________________________________________________________ List Info: http://uug.byu.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/uug-list
