Since this thread has been briefly rekindled I thought I'd mention another good game I found: SolarWolf <http://www.pygame.org/shredwheat/solarwolf/>. My wife says it's sorta like pacman only you're being shot at the whole time. Definitely worth a try.
Let me make another plug for Heroes while I'm at it too. This game is so engrossing I missed my bus-stop.
