That's funny. I also happen to have a non-techie roommate who sits down at the shared Linux computer and uses Gnome. Strange coincidence. Oh, wait. Same guy. But seriously, there are several people I know really well who don't focus on computers but use Linux because it helps them get their work done. They're the types who aren't scared to just try things, even if something breaks every once in a while.
