I believe dd does not in fact work, as the keys are considered disc metadata. I believe I got dvdbackup to work at one point, although I forget how I wrote the disc to DVD once I had wripped it. (Incidentally, I also have a DL-DVD burner (but only single layer DVD-Rs)).
