There are several $600-$1000 models. If you already have an SLR, it would pay to buy a DSLR of the same brand so you can use the lenses. My mother owns a Canon Digital Rebel and loves it. Great camera for the price (600-800 maybe?) She also has a Canon SLR. I love the image quality coming off the CMOS sensor. No filtering or processing done at all in-camera. Of course by today's standards it is pretty low-res at 6 MP. Apparently there's also a firmware hack to unlock the higher-end 10D features in the chipset. Never tried it though. In the end, though, the DSLR only gets used for family portraits and artistic shots. The 4 MP point and shoot goes to Europe while the DSLR stays home. Bulky has its disadvantages. There are nice point and shoot cameras with great optics (amazing for the size, really) with 7 MP or more. Interesting choices that brings us. Plus I found out that many small digital cameras can attach to a variety of lense and filters. (I'm mentioning all this for the list's benefit) Michael > > Thanks, > -- > Michael Moore > ------------------------------- > www.stuporglue.org -- Donate your used computer to a student that needs it. > > -------------------- > BYU Unix Users Group > http://uug.byu.edu/ > > The opinions expressed in this message are the responsibility of their > author.
