Good point. We've got some old Canon lenses that are still in good shape.
Check to make sure Canon hasn't switched lense mounts. Canon has been
known to do that from time to time. Nikon doesn't change nearly so
often. My dad had a 30 year old nikon SLR (hand-wind and everything)
that he could still attach lenses to since Nikon had kept their design
for so long. I'd be surprised, though, if an old Canon lense would fit
the digital rebel. A 5 year-old-one would probably work, though.
As it happens, I'm pretty sure they have changed. The *really* old
cannon lenses use what's called an F mount, while the only-sorta-old
ones use the EF mount. There's a newer one too, but I can't remember
the name. Basically, if the camera and/or lens says "EOS" or "EF" on
it, it uses an EF mount. I think the Digital Rebels use both the EF
mount and the newer one. The F mount lenses are from the era of
hand-wind SLRs
Good Luck,
