So... I've fought this for too long. It shouldn't be as hard as everybody makes it sound.
I just bought a new computer and I can't run CrystalSpace demos. I'm guessing it's because I don't have something setup correctly with my card... I'm on Debian Etch (x.org) with a 2.6.15 kernel and an Nvidia 6800 pci-e card After finding a ton of tutorials who's first step is 'apt-get install nvidia-kernel-source' and having that fail (along with attempts to m-a auto-install nvidia) I'm getting kinda frustrated... so I download the 'driver' binary installer from nvidia and it at least get's a nifty *sarcasm* little nvidia logo at boot along with better screen resolution (but I'm assuming I could have gotten the better resolution with the nv drivers anyway). Wow, that's quite the run-on sentence... As an additional point of information, 3d demos run just fine. So... What information beyond that do I need to give to better explain what's going on? Can I run something other than a 3d demo to tell me if everythings working correctly? Did the Nvidia installer give me some kind of 'dev' set of files that I could work with? I know that in Debian there is usually a 'dev' package that you need to install if you're going to code-up anything... how do I get a 3d/opengl 'dev' set of files? -Rich -------------------- BYU Unix Users Group http://uug.byu.edu/ The opinions expressed in this message are the responsibility of their author.
