It looks like they actually worked with the Wine people to make Picasa
run on Linux via Wine. So they didn't exactly port it (ie. it's not
native), but it still runs alright. I'll bet if they had to do a
complete port, it wouldn't have happened.

Apparently folks have already managed to make some of google earth run
under wine.  I've tried on several occasions and it always gives me an
error and says google earth needs to quit now.

I have google earth working :). I used winetools to install it and it's always worked well for me. The only problem is the toolbars aren't visable (they still work though), so you have to guess where the box is :P. Once you select it it shows up fine though.
