I have google earth working :). I used winetools to install it and it's
always worked well for me. The only problem is the toolbars aren't
visable (they still work though), so you have to guess where the box is
:P. Once you select it it shows up fine though.
What linux distro and version are you using?
Gentoo with wine version 0.9.9. Winetools
( http://www.von-thadden.de/Joachim/WineTools/ ) will install google earth
for you. You need some MS dll junk too, but winetools can take care of
that. Here's the Gentoo wiki:
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Install_GoogleEarth_with_wine . On the wiki
it looks like they have it working all the way :). With winetools to
install some of the MS core stuff I've had pretty good luck with wine.
Some of the things I currently run are: google earth, quicktime, warcraft
III, Baldur's Gate I/II, C&C: Red Alert 2 and Generals: Zero Hour, and
some other stuff. It will even run outlook and IE if you want to(I don't
know why you would ever do that, but you can).
