InkScape seems to work pretty well -- the best so far. BTW, this is
for a LaTeX document. Even though pdflatex can use png's and jpg's, I
really like the quality of pdf and eps images for charts and graphs.
I've known about InkScape for a while, but never used it. Thanks for
recommending it to me.
