Did you look at the dot files on the drive?  A couple of times when
I've been transferring files back and forth from WinXP to Linux I've
noticed that the .Trash_<username> file has been filled with the files
I've been copying back and forth.

Yeah, I rm -r'ed everything. ls -a was showing 0 files, but df was
showing a bunch of space missing, even after remounting it. I had
initially thought it was the .Trash files, but they didn't have hardly
anything in them.
