I have a myth box that worked great with my old analog TV. We bought a 37" TV a few months ago, and I still haven't figured out how to get my nvidia-legacy card to output the correct 1080p modeline. Since support for older cards was moved out of the nvidia driver package and into the nvidia-legacy package, they added modelines specific to ATSC, and other Hi-Def signal Modelines. I've tried explicitly specifying this modeline in my X config, but it always gets rejected and ends up using a 1024x768 mode, which looks terrible on a nice TV.

I'm ready to give up and say I need a new graphics card. If anyone else has any ideas on how to get an older nvidia card working with an hdtv, I'm all ears. I'm equally willing to take a PCI or AGP 4x/8x FX series nvidia card off your hands. If you have one laying around, and are willing to part with it, I'll consider that just as good of a solution as getting this older card working.

When I put my Myth box together last summer I just bought a cheap $20 nvidia card, and it has worked really well (besides not having XvMC). Of course mine is PCI Express and all that, but the cheap new ones work really well. If you need XvMC you just have to watch the chipset numbering and stuff. You might want to look into what really cheap ones you can find. The nice thing with HDTVs is that you only need a DVI out now so you don't have to pay extra for the TV output.

The new modelines are great BTW. I'm quite happy with mine.
