I don't know how practical or useful this is in general, but since you're asking I'll throw it out. Something I need on a semi-regular basis is a tool to make a user change their password when they log in. I ended up hacking together a shell script that's called from the user's ~/.gnomerc and runs gnome-terminal full screen (this was on Ubuntu), but I remember thinking at the time it would be nice to have a window manager agnostic tool that would a) look better and b) work better. I was actually thinking of trying to learn enough Python and one of its GUI libraries to bust out something to do the job, but maybe something like Qt would work as well as that or better. My original idea was running something via Xsession.d so it launches right after they log in, but that's about as much thought as I've given it. Anyway, there's idea (such as it is) for you :) Nick -------------------- BYU Unix Users Group http://uug.byu.edu/ The opinions expressed in this message are the responsibility of their author.
