Mailing lists are great for getting answers to specific questions,
getting a list of ideas to follow-up on (for more general questions), or
getting help finding direction with a problem.

Your questions don't really fall into any of these categories. Right
now, you're just giving off the impression that you want somebody to do
your work for you. One way to avoid this appearance is to summarize
what you've tried so far. How much have you already been able to
accomplish, and what have you tried so far to get to the next step? Are
you coming up with a particular error? These are some good ideas that
Eric Raymond provides in his often cited page, "How To Ask Questions The
Smart Way." [1]

Specific to your problem, it seems that you might benefit a lot from
getting your hands on an SNMP cookbook (a book based primarily on
providing example solutions to common problems). Does anybody know of
any good books that fit this description?
