I think we are getting too worked up about "freedoms" of this kind. Something like a chess player that is worried about a hanging pawn but does not see a mate. We sure do have a lot of mediocrity, but it is not in allowing an ISP admin to have access to your e-mails and occasionally look at it due to a security trigger.
