I got this question from a friend and I don't really know much about
fiber. Anyone here have an answer/opinion?

Forwarded Question:

I am curious about what type of fiber is the most futureproof in a home
where conduit maybe isn’t practical? 50µm? 62.5µm? Single mode?
Multimode? I am specifically curious about what fiber is being used in
lightpeak and this Atlona displayport adapter. I don’t think the
displayport over fiber spec specifies the medium, but Atlona is a
reputable firm and they will probably use the same fiber in upcoming 1.2
spec cables as these 1.1 spec cables. Since 10G over copper cable is
already viable, I don’t think it is worth installing fiber just for
Ethernet. Conduit in this home is not practical.
