Hey UUGers (can I call you all that?),

I've been busy the last couple days moving in and starting classes for this
Spring semester. Can't wait to meet you guys, when are we having a meeting?

Anyway, I had fun attempting to set up my internet access in my dorm, I had to
get through the system scan (which scans for Microsoft Updates and up-to-date
Antivirus software). Had to go back to Windows, and try to update it from all
the way back whenever the last time I used it was. Et cetera... I did pass
the scan and my internet works fine, but doesn't IT require me to do it again
next Sunday and every Sunday after? I'd have to go out of my way to get back
into Windows, update, then log back in every day, and I'd rather do it on
Linux.

Since I don't want to have to go through this Windows hassle if I don't have
to, is there a way to satisfy the check if I'm on Linux (Kubuntu)? Is there
some fancy Wine setup that will get me by? I keep Kubuntu updated, and I can
install ClamAV if antivirus is so required.

Can a Linux user survive at BYU without Microsoft Windows or is resistance
futile? :)
